| Situated on the north coast of the island of São Miguel, the oceanside estate known as the "Casa das Calhetas", dates back to the 18th century (1723). The manorly house has always been the residence of "Morgados". The view towards northeast reveals breathtaking images of the Atlantic ocean, the north coast of the island and of the "Lagoa do Fogo" moutain range. The view towards southwest offers a completely different setting, ranging from one of the most unique convents in the Azores to the estate's magnificent secular garden. The house in itself is decorated in simplicity, having maintained the characteristics of the wealthy rural houses typical of the Azores.
